Sampar

On a recent rainy Sunday in Paris, we bundled-up and headed to Les Cent Ciels, a Moroccan-inspired spa located just a bit outside of town. Through the spa itself was noteworthy—all carved wood and candles, with a courtyard café for relaxing post-hamam—what drew us away from our café au laits was the chance to experience a facial using products by SAMPAR, a European skincare star that’s now available on our shores. And are we glad we did: our stressed post-flight skin was made smooth, clear and supple by the line’s potent products, which tackle an array of skin issues using a patented combination of active natural ingredients, luxurious formulas and eye-catching packaging.

SAMPAR was founded by Patrick Sounigo, who tapped into his years of research and experience in the fields of aromatherapy and phytotherapy to create modern solutions to today’s common skincare problems, including hyper-pigmentation, dehydration, and the harmful effects of pollution and environmental toxins. To combat the latter in particular, Sounigo’s lab developed the Urban Active Complex, a unique blend of active elements extracted from shea butter (to calm, detoxify and protect), mint leaves (to soothe inflammation and boost radiance) and plant and milk sugars (to stimulate cell regeneration and restore balance.) This compound is the basis of all SAMPAR products, and is instrumental in keeping them effective and cutting-edge.

The products are divided into five categories: City of Light has three products to help clarify and brighten dull skin; Pure Perfection contains four products for oily or problem skin; Age Antidote’s three items work to maintain a youthful complexion; the six-product Essentials line covers all the day-to-day needs; and the five Winsome treatments target the body. Standouts include the Lap of Luxury Sea Scrub, a gentle body exfoliant containing beeswax, sea salt and essential oils, and the Nocturnal Lifting Mask, which contains 95 percent active ingredients to provide near-immediate visible results.

To keep the products effective and reduce contamination, the packaging is innovative, too—no clear containers or wide-mouthed jars are used, and all pumps are airless; one of our favourites, the super-hydrating Lavish Dream Cream, has a cool top with a built-in hidden pump, making it perfect for easy, one-handed access. Making it even cuter, everything comes in a pretty pink-and-white palette etched with a line drawing of Parisian monuments.

SAMPAR is currently available in select Nordstrom Stores, www.beauty.com and exclusive spas and salons Worldwide. For more on all its stellar products, visit www.samparusa.com.
